Gyrfalcon 4

Gyrfalcon 4

Ask a question

Although the classic image of a Gyrfalcon is a regal white bird with black spotting, the birds occur in shades of white, gray, and dark brown. In North America, gray birds are more numerous than the other two morphs. Adults are heavily barred on the back, wings, and tail, with spotted underparts. Although this looks very similar to a Red Tailed Hawk, it was actually about 50% bigger. What's so unusual is that this image was captured in my backyard in Pennsylvania, a good distance south of this bird's normal range.

As of 2018 I am beginning to offer a limited matting option for 5x7 and 8x10 image sizes. These are Museum quality acid free mattes. NOTE: the price listed is for the matted image, is image and matte, not just the matte addition.
